There are so many lovely surprises in this sculpture. The basket portion was designed in such a way so as to hi-light special aspects of the ceramic base. The weaving leads the viewer in several directions so that certain elements are called to attention – the unique firing marks as well as structure shapes. This particular basket has been very strongly influenced by the sandstone waves of our landscape here in northern Arizona. As I wove the needles and created an “entrance” in the top of the basket it began to remind me of the rabbit holes here and of course with the final jeweled embellishments of beading I imagined this must be the King Rabbit’s hide away…
