Scarred Beauty is my second Bison skull. The power and gentleness that is emitted from this wonderful creature is hard to describe. There is such a close and intimate relationship built with each piece as I sculpt and apply the beads. I hold and support the skull on my easel the entire time I am working on it. There is an energy that remains of the animal and I feel it while I work. These were powerful but peaceful animals and the feeling of a peaceful warrior always comes through to me with a bison skull and is what guides me in my design and material choices. I have such a feeling of humbleness and honor about what I do – it is truly a final honoring of a magnificent animal that once was.
